Ask for Life - Ephraim Ahamefula

1John 5:16 "If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life....."

I know a lot of scholars have their explanations of what the Sin unto Death is, but this is how i see it. Death means separation from the life of God, and for us believers, the only thing that can take us out of that life must be directly opposite to what brought us into it. We came into the life of God by believing and accepting the Lordship of Jesus and his work on the cross and so what will take you out and be a sin unto death is rejecting that sacrifice.Sin, in the greek is the word "harmatia" which means to miss the mark, to fall below God's standard... etc basically to do anything that is not the will of God for your life not just limited to moral actions. And so if God's will is for me to be in good health and be prosperous and i'm sick and broke, that is missing the mark, and can be called Sin (it does not lead to death). So when you look at your life or in other people's and you see things that are not in line with the will of God, or things have fallen below the standard of God, instead of complaining, judging and condemning yourself, God says you should ask for Life. The Life of God is the antidote and restorer of any action that is not in line with the Will of God. That was why Jesus was sent because in Him was Life and that Life emmits light that would dispel every darkness. So if your marriage ain't working, ASK FOR LIFE, business ain't going well, ASK FOR LIFE, sick in your body, ASK FOR LIFE etc. This is because YOU ARE A LIFE GIVING SPIRIT (1Corinthians 15:45&48)
